老湯一輩子追求“飄逸”，因集資案受騙，但也是同案犯。他出獄這天，父親大壽，三弟回國，債主逼門。父親去世，把全部遺產(chǎn)交到老湯手里，讓他當(dāng)湯家的掌門人，但有兩個(gè)條件，完成不了，遺產(chǎn)捐贈社會。老湯的兒子湯姜要結(jié)婚了，對象家境較好。老湯不服氣，要掙一筆錢給兒子。不想，老湯打臺球騙錢被揭穿，他只能眼睜睜兒子當(dāng)了人家的倒插門女婿。老湯集資欠債的都是窮人，他重寫借據(jù)準(zhǔn)備還債，但他沒有錢，除非動用父親的遺產(chǎn)。老湯在送水站的工作很辛苦，完成父親的兩個(gè)條件也很困難。 慢慢的，他把浪費(fèi)在“飄逸”上的聰明才智用到了正事上，也開始體會到父親讓他當(dāng)湯家掌門人的用心。最終，他團(tuán)結(jié)并幫助全家人重新認(rèn)識生活，讓這筆遺產(chǎn)有了最妥當(dāng)?shù)陌才?。老湯終于成為一個(gè)對社會和家庭有益的人。

　　Speaking about her role in the new series, Claire Skinner, said: "I'm a huge fan of McDonald & Dodds so I'm delighted to be joining the cast as Chief Superintendent Ormond. Ormond is a quietly intimidating character so she'll be keeping McDonald & Dodds on their toes throughout this new series."
